At night I passed through the silver gate,

\nI heard the song of the silver stars
\nThat swung in the silver sky.<\/p>\n

I walked at dawn through the gate of gold,
\nAnd came to a golden sea.
\nSeven mermaids rose from the golden waves
\nAnd fluttered white hands to me.<\/p>\n

At last I came to the other gate.
\nThe sentinel murmured, “Pass!”
